Genetic characterization of Angiostrongylus cantonensis isolates from different regions of Ecuador

چکیده
Angiostrongylus cantonensis (Chen, 1945) was identified in Ecuador for the first time 2008. Eleven provinces of country were investigated to establish phylogenetic relationships between isolates adult parasite and compare them with those existing other regions world; partial region subunit 1 Cytochrome oxidase (COI 1) amplified, amplicons sequenced aligned reference sequences AC1-AC9 haplotypes. Isolates are grouped a single clade different from previously characterized groups, which represents novelty genetic diversity Latin America rest world. The has been recently introduced, prevented divergence isolates.

The most common cause of eosinophilic meningitis is the rat lung worm Angiostrongylus cantonensis, a parasite which is endemic in the South East Asian and Pacific regions. While the typical clinical presentation is that of meningitis associated with an eosinophilic pleocytosis, a 45 year old man presented with a radiculomyelopathy, associated with an eosinophilic pleocytosis and cerebrospinal f...

The life cycle of M. laryngeus is not completely known, but it is assumed to be similar to S. trachea, which penetrates the intestinal wall and migrates through the body of the animal to the tracheolaryngeal region (8). Eggs produced are deposited in the tracheal mucosa, swallowed, and pass in the feces. Chronic cough and fever are the major symptoms associated with M. laryngeus in humans, with...

A 32-year-old man presented to our hospital on July 5, 2006, after the onset of headache, paresthesias of the left upper limb for 10 days, and weakness for 7 days before admission. He had eaten an inadequately cooked Pomacea canaliculata 20 days previously. Laboratory testing indicated a normal white blood cell count of 6,700/mm 3 with mild eosinophilia of 7.8% (523/mm 3 ). A lumbar puncture te...
متن کاملEosinophilic meningitis due to Angiostrongylus cantonensis.
Angiostrongylus cantonensis is the most common etiological agent of eosinophilic meningitis. Adults are harbored in the pulmonary arteries of rats. Larvae develop within various natural (mollusks) and paratenic (snails...) hosts. After ingestion, larvae reach the human central nervous system where they cannot complete their life cycle. This zoonosis is usually seen in Southeast Asia and South P...
متن کاملMolecular differentiation and phylogenetic relationships of three Angiostrongylus species and Angiostrongylus cantonensis geographical isolates based on a 66-kDa protein gene of A. cantonensis (Nematoda: Angiostrongylidae).
The phylogenetic relationships and molecular differentiation of three species of angiostrongylid nematodes (Angiostrongylus cantonensis, Angiostrongylus costaricensis and Angiostrongylus malaysiensis) were studied using the AC primers for a 66-kDa protein gene of A. cantonensis. The AC primers successfully amplified the genomic DNA of these angiostrongylid nematodes. No amplification was detect...
